It's taken me two months to psyche myself up to sort out my energy and water tariffs after moving house recently. I'm still not quite there; just one meter reading away from peace of mind, which is tantalisingly close. The circular conversations, the thrill of picking up paper trail errors and the David and Goliath feeling of insignificance. It's been fun. Once again this week - and echoing my own sentiments - we're being told energy consumers are the victims of profiteering and bamboozling pricing and tariffs. The Energy and Climate Change Committee (ECCC) has announced that Ofgem is "failing consumers by not taking all possible steps to improve openness" among the big six energy companies: E.On, SSE, British Gas, Npower, EDF and Scottish Power. read more
